Services to Be Provided
KNAC agrees to provide client access to and use of the kitchen. We provide basic cooking equipment (6 Burner Gas Range, Stand Mixer, 3-Compartment Sink, Hand Wash Sink) as well as basic cleaning supplies. Cookie sheets, pots, pans, mixing bowls and various utensils may be used by renters, but any additional specialized equipment is provided by the renter.
- Make sure you do not take any KNAC equipment home with you. If you do, you will be fined.
- Equipment supplied by renters must be NSF approved.
- Limited storage space is available.
- Please label any equipment / supplies you leave in the kitchen.
No Frying allowed. Intake/outtake hood is not sufficient for frying at this point in time.
Storage Space
Renters wishing to leave tools, equipment, or ingredients on site will be provided a designated area to do so. Renters must provide sealed storage bins that are clearly labeled with the owner’s name. Perishable contents must be labeled and dated. Each renter is provided one shelf of freezer and refrigerator space. If this is not adequate, please discuss with the building manager and other arrangements can be made. All other personal items must be removed upon leaving the facility. Anything left in the kitchen outside of designated storage may be consumed, used or disposed of.
Reserving Kitchen Space
Kitchen availability is scheduled by the Building Manager and in collaboration with the other kitchen renters.
Scheduling: The kitchen is available 7 days a week. Rental time includes set up and clean up. Client scheduling priority is first come, first served. Renters will gain access to a shared calendar to view available rental times.
Shift Cancellation Policy
Clients will be responsible to give at least one week notice when cancelling shifts. If five (5) business days are not given as notice to the Building Manager, there will be a $25.00 cancellation fee assessed.
Cleaning
All renters will be required to leave the kitchen in the condition in which it was found upon rental. The renter will follow the necessary disinfecting guidelines and clean up checklist posted. KNAC will provide soap, chemical sanitizer, broom, mop/bucket and towels for cleaning and sanitizing.
After using the space, renters are expected to empty their trash from the kitchen and bring to the receptacle at the rear of the building.
Failure to properly clean up after use will result in a fee of $100 for cleaning services.
Rate Schedule & Payment
Clients will be charged a base fee for every hour that the kitchen is occupied; this includes set up and clean up. The base fees are as follows: .
Fixed Schedule → $17 per hour (you will be charged for your fixed scheduled time each month, regardless of use) If User exceeds Fixed Schedule time, User will be billed at an additional $17 per hour. Additional time will only be granted if there is an opening in the schedule.
Non-Fixed Schedule
Renters will sign in and sign out on the provided Kitchen Usage log each time the kitchen is used.
All clients will be billed on the last day of each month for the previous month's usage. Rent must be paid within 15 days of invoicing. All late payments are subject to a $25 late fee.
Rates are based on time reserved in the kitchen space. Renters who do not use all of their reserved time in the kitchen are still responsible for full payment.
Do not enter the space outside of your reserved time without prior approval.
Assignment
Renter’s may not transfer or assign the renter’s privileges under this agreement to any third party. The renter shall not grant access or allow a third party to operate in the kitchen at any time. Violation of this duty is grounds for immediate termination of this agreement and the immediate discharge of the renter from the kitchen.
Miscellaneous Provisions
The renter shall make no alterations, installations, repairs or redecoration (including painting) of any kind to the premises without first obtaining written permission from the building manager.
The renter shall give prompt notification to the building manager of any maintenance required.
Smoking / Illegal Drugs
KNAC buildings and grounds are smoke- and illegal drug-free zone at all times.
Excessive Noise
Clients are requested to prevent the sound of their activity from disturbing others.
Building Access
The client will be issued a door code for building access at the Michigan Ave. entrance. The client will also be issued a key to the Church St. entrance. There is a lost key replacement charge of $25.00. The client should only occupy the kitchen space and restrooms. In consideration of other tenants, please refrain from using other parts of the building without prior approval.
First Baptist Church Usage Consideration
Situations may precipitate the need for First Baptist Church to access the kitchen. The Building Manager will give notice to scheduled clients in an appropriate time frame. Funerals and Memorial Services are unexpected events and we will do our best to accommodate everyone’s needs and requirements.
Withdrawal of Permission
KNAC may withdraw permission to use its facilities and/or equipment at any time if the client fails to comply with stated policies and procedures governing facility usage by clients.
Liability of Client
KNAC shall not be liable for any damage to either person or property sustained by the client or by any third party arising in any way out of the client’s use, operation, or occupancy of the kitchen or other areas of the premises. The client covenants and agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless KNAC and its employees from all claims, costs, and liabilities arising from or in connection with damages and injuries to persons (including death) or property in, upon, or about KNAC kitchen premises, any portion thereof, or resulting from the sale, distribution, and use of any products manufactured by the client on KNAC premises.
KNAC shall have the right to inspect the kitchen premises at all times and reserves the right to enter the premises whenever determined necessary. This includes the Michigan Department of Agriculture and/or the Kalamazoo Health Department inspections and any repairs needed for the kitchen.
Contact Person
This person shall be the designated contact person to assure that these operating policies and all relevant procedures listed on the attached Safety/Security Checklist are observed. Before final approval of the application, this person must meet with Elise Ripmaster, 269-270-8862, Building Manager to go over these guidelines and procedures.
